SlumberTrek was recently humbled to be invited to take part in the Australia Awards Women Trading Globally program hosted by the Department of Foreign Affairs in partnership with the Export Council of Australia.
The “Australia Awards: Women Trading Globally” course was designed under the government ‘Aid for Trade’ initiative, to assist small business owners from countries in South East Asia to develop the capabilities needed to open their businesses to new international markets, as well as connect with other women entrepreneurs in Australia.
The program consisted of one week of training in Melbourne, and one week of training in Sydney and it is the first of its kind to be supported by the Australian government. A delegation of fifteen amazing entrepreneurs connected with Australian business women with the aim of gaining the skills and knowledge to complete a comprehensive business plan before heading back to their home countries.
Dianne Harvey, General Manager of SlumberTrek, spent an afternoon with the ladies as a panelist and was incredibly inspired by the depth of questions asked and the innovation, drive and resilience the ladies showed in their own businesses. A visit by the delegates to the SlumberTrek office later in the week was also well received where Shaun Campbell presented the SlumberTrek strategy, top tips and approach to breaking into International Markets. The ladies would have loved to stay for longer and they again filled the room with well thought questions and knowledge that we could also use in the SlumberTrek business.
We are very grateful to have been asked to take part in such a fantastic initiative and we look forward to keeping in touch with the delegates as they put their global business plans into place in their home countries.
